Munster Style On Hold

So it is official, I have put Munster Style (people who regularly read this blog will know that Munster Style was a periodical that I started several years ago) on hold until I can get some extra hands and some extra time and edit all the articles. It was a great idea and we have dozens of great articles, but many are dated because this took so long. I will rock it another day...

Rats & Gassers Day Sixth & Seventh Of Filming

Chris' Roadster

Chris Darland

Another '55 Chris built with his straight axle clip

We went down to Medford, Oregon to interview fabricator Chris Darland for Rats & Gassers: Kustom Kulture Takes A Ride and Munster Style Issue One, leaving Seattle early Thursday morning. I met Chris during production of Hot Rod Girls Save The World back in 2004. He choreographed the zombie fight scene as well as playing Freddy Dahmer in my film. First we went to Chris small shop by his house and later to his business partners full blown shop/classic car museum (man the cars in there were unreal- even tho they were Chevys...). Chris is a true fabricator's fabricator, with more cars to his credit than most. His latest endeavor is creating kustom straight axle clips for '55-'57 Chevy's, giving those cars an instant mid sixties gasser stance with a minimum of work. Great two day road tip. On the way back we helped with a rollover accident. I will blog about that later.

Kitty Mansfield by Diane Jacobson for Munster Style

Just got a peek at some of the new pics by the talented photographer Diane Jacobson of the stunning pin-up Kitty Mansfield in front of Robb Newby's GodSpeed Rat Truck. These are for an article about Kitty for Munster Style and will also appear in Rats & Gassers during the section about Robb's truck. I love this set!

Munster Style

So Munster Style is behind schedule, but still cookin'. More interviews are done and more photo shoots have come in. Didn't realize how much work this would be, but it's all good. I also just bought a dictation recorder and transcription program for my MacBook Pro so I can write Munster Style articles, blogs, screenplays, etc on the go and at higher velocity than I can with my two finger typing style. If this new method of dictation/automated transcription works, my output may double. We shall see.

Breakthrough Day

I had a major mental breakthrough on several project ideas. The coolest thing is the breakthrough came on intertwining several projects to reduce work and maximize my time. I will post more later as the projects progress, don't want to let the cat out of the bag. This breakthrough includes Munster Style and a film project idea. Gotta smile.

Fingers are still numb by the way.

Munster Style

Shannon Brooke self portrait for Munster Style article
More layouts and file sorting for our new book Munster Style. Had to do some file conversions then move text from e-mails to word processing files. The more I dig into this, the more I get excited about the project. There really are so many great articles and artists involved with Munster Style, it is humbling. I also sent e-mails out to different book printers to see what the first run of 1,000 books will cost and contacted Chrysler Historical Archives to get some pictures for an article I am writing about roadsters for MS.

Siolo Thompson in Munster Style

Just got these in from artist and model Siolo Thompson, shot by Niffer Calderwood for Issue One of Munster Style. We are doing a full feature and interview on her artwork and modeling.

Cusp

Multi-tasking to the max. Compiling Munster Style content, having a meeting with MS Co-Editor Steve Puvogel and taking delivery of Blacktop Deceiver's song for the Munster Style Compilation CD (they are dropping it off). I am also blocking and uploading episodes of Go-Kustom TV to our new Blip.TV page @ http://gokustom.blip.tv. Also sorting through the Zombie Crush pics of BEcky lee and Smookie Tiger for Evil Undead Girlfiend:The Re-Animation Of Issa Kross pre-production film promotion. Tomorrow Heidi Van Horne and Shannon Brooke are shooting promotional pics for another film I am working on Chopper Chicas.

Got word from the pressing plant that the Rat Rod Rockers! DVDs will ship next Monday. The DVD broker also said that the guys in the pressing plant really dug the film! They have to proof the replicated discs for technical reasons at different points and ended up watching the whole movie. A good sign?

Projects Projects Projects

So now that the Rat Rod Rockers! DVD is being pressed and the first round of promotions and ads are set for the film, I have really started digging into the Munster Style CD & publication as well as laying the ground work for two films, Chopper Chicas and Evil Undead Girlfiend: The Re-Animation Of Issa Kross. Heidi Van Horne (model) and Shannon Brooke (photographer) are set to do a character development photo shoot for Chopper Chicas on the 27th of February (hey that's also my Birthday!). They have set it up in Skratch's (famous L.A. fabricator/builder) garage with (possibly) two choppers. I will post pics when they are done. Meanwhile- Karen Kougar (who plays the The Baroness) is setting up her photo shoot as Zombie Crush is processing last weeks pics of Smookie Tiger and Becky Lee, both sets for Evil Undead Girlfiend. I still need to get all these projects websites updated and redesigned.

Yesterday I sent out three interview for Munster Style as well as started new file folders for several article sets. We are still waiting for many tracks and contracts to come in for the compilation CD.

I have also started a new Go-Kustom TV Vimeo Channel. The cool thing about Vimeo is you can upload very high quality video clips and then watch them on your home television if you have a Roku player. I am hooked on the Roku ($120 for a mid level box). We have had ours for a month and haven't visited Blockbuster or a Red Box machine since. I can really see why Netflix and others are moving away from the physical DVD Distribution model and to the internet based Video On Demand models.

Munster Style Issue One Compilation CD

Finished a few mock-ups of the Munster Style Issue One Compilation CD. This is one of my favorites. This disc comes with the publication. Cover model is the lovely Heidi Van Horne, who also will have a track on the disc. Also on the CD will be Devil Doll, Blacktop Deceiver, Hard Money Saints, Stellar Corpses, my band and a dozen more. This will only be available as a promotion disc for the publication.

Nikki Dodge Photoshoot for Munster Style by Jessica Rose

Just got these pics in from photographer Jessica Rose of model Nikki Dodge for Issue One of Munster Style, our Arts, Music and Kustom Kulture Periodikal. The article these (and other) pics will be featured in, is about Nikki and actress Teri Aslett and both of their work with dogs, specifically bully breeds. Besides modeling, Nikki does extensive rescue work with Bowman's Canine in Southern California. Currently both dogs in the photos ( Latte & Buddy) are available for adoption.

Man What A Crazy Week!

Man am I glad it is Saturday! Last week was busy busy busy. Tuesday/Wednesday I had to finalize some accounting issues for our arts school- invoices, receipts, banking statements and some calculation and information for our 941 quarterly taxes. Thursday we went to an awards ceremony in Everett to select our new 12 passenger van (we get it next week)! The vans and buses are presented by Snohomish Community Transit as the Van Go! Grants to non-profit organizations that help the community (which our arts school is definitely one- especially with all the families we help and support). Several area City Mayors were there as well as Community Transit Board members, etc. I got to rub elbows with the "Mid Wigs." It was so awesome seeing all the churches and schools and recovery program organizations getting these moderately used vehicles for free. Our van has just 74,000 miles on it and looks fantastic! On Friday we had a long sit down meeting with the school district for our arts school about new and old policy's that effect all schools in Washington State. I couldn't get much editing done for Rat Rod Rockers! this week, however I was able to get several rough covers laid out for our new publication Munster Style. Nothing completed yet, but I think I found a retro-dark yet thoroughly modern direction for the cover art.

Munster Style Photo Shoot

Hooked up with Steve Puvogel, Mike and Ragaen McKibbin to do a photo shoot for our new publication Munster Style . The weather was mildly rainy but we were able to find an abandon dock with a small overhang to shoot under. Great set. Carla and Big T were also supposed to show, but the rain just got too heavy to drive the open top T-Bird Gasser. We will reschedule a shoot with them. We are hoping to have Munster Style out by summers end. We just moved our first submission deadline from April 31st to June 1, 2010. This will be a 250+ page periodical/book covering Kustom Kulture, Paranormal Stuff, Indie-Arts, etc. So far we have some awesome articles, artwork and photos lined up. We may also do a tie-in DVD format of the publication

Munster Style Page Sample

Photographer, Editor and Writer, Steve Puvogel, came over this weekend to drop some sample pages for an article he is working on about The Rat Bastards Car Club Infestation II for Munster Style. This was an awesome car show last year, that I actually filmed for my new movie Rat Rod Rockers! Steve is setting the Munster Styles tone with his layouts deigns. He is doing a kickass job!

Munster Style Ad

Created a new Munster Style banner ad for various websites the afternoon. They should start appearing on sites next week. Gotta get the word out about our new Kustom Kulture Periodical.
